Dear pilgrims,
Since the time of its creation, our pilgrimage has taken a determined stand as a Catholic association. We have wanted to uphold - sometimes against the tide - three subjects at the root of our commitment to the Church: the importance of Christendom, the importance of the Catholic Faith transmitted through Tradition (that is to say the Magisterium and the traditional Mass) and the importance of being missionary.
Man, body and soul, is a social and political animal. And as man is a social and political animal, how could life in a truly human society ignore God?
Modern man has been lobotomised and rendered a mindless pawn of the mass media. The tragedies of history remind him that our society without God has no future. Islam is invading our societies because human nature cannot stand emptiness – be it material or spiritual. We should thus be unsurprised by present-day conversions to Islam. They show that man cannot be satisfied by a spiritual void; man thirsts for God, even when following false religions. What can we do today to oppose the presence of Islam in our modern and relativist society? The times in which we live require Catholics to resist these deviations and to announce the Gospel to all men, including Muslims with God’s assistance.
Our hope is also our certitude. And our certitude is that the Faith renders human activity noble, starting with man’s political activity.
Our certitude is that God is not parsimonious in the distribution of his gifts - so long as we do not economise our efforts for his Kingdom in a mean-spirited way. We must all work for the greater glory of God, each according to his state in life. First and foremost we have to pray, but need to work as well, each using the means God has placed at his disposal, whether material or intellectual.
“Notre Dame de Chrétienté” is a miracle but our association currently depends on the work of far too few collaborators. We need your help. Please send us new pilgrims for the Chartres pilgrimage next year. And if some new pilgrims can’t come in person, create “Guardian Angel” chapters in your parishes. These pilgrims participate in the pilgrimage whilst remaining at home. There are more than two thousand of them at present, half being religious and clergy. With your help we could be much more numerous next year.
I wish you a safe journey home and look forward to seeing you next year.

Notre Dame de Chartres, priez pour nous !
Notre Dame de la Sainte Espérance, convertissez-nous !
